The Village of Newark Valley consists of .96 square miles within the Town and has a population of 1,071 according to the 2000 Census. The Village has some spectacular historic buildings and has recently seen the establishment of a trendy cyber-café and a natural foods store. These are certainly signs that the Village is poised for some new retail establishments that will further improve the quality of life for area residents. The Village owns a spectacular park called Trout Ponds that is a setting for numerous events and recreational activities. Also in the village is the Newark Valley Depot, owned by the Newark Valley Historical Society, which hosts "Depot Friday Nights" entertainment series from June-September.
